Our goals for the year:
- 1 Friends Fundraiser
- 1 Generous Generations Fundraiser
- Host at least 1 of each Service Project opportunity at the hospitals.
- Meetings will have donation / service project themes.
- And of course - have FUN and have a great time together!
Service Projects are opportunities to support Children's either in the facility, through donations, or by preparing items for use at Children's.
Service Projects inside the facility include Patient Parties, Coffee with Friends, and Library Time. Dates for these activities will be chosen on 8/30, and we plan to do at least 1 of each activity. We are looking for members who would like to lead and/or participate in any of these events.
In addition, each Friends meeting will have a different theme to support Children's. For example, next month we will collect DVD's to donate to Children's. Another month we'll pack snack packs for parents and children at Children's.
Last year we focused our fundraising efforts through our Generous Generations group. And we will continue that group this year! By far the most successful fundraising event last year was the Fun Run/Walk - and we'll be doing that again this year. The event will be in May at Whitefield Academy.
NEW THIS YEAR, the mom's - or Friends - part of group will host a fundraiser. OktoberFest with Friends will take place on 10/2 from 6-10pm at Red Brick Brewery. Tickets can be purchased online at www.choa.org/oktoberfest. Traditional OktoberFest food, live music, brewery drinks, and $100 Famgrab raffle are included with each ticket. Ashley's husband Andre (yes - the chef!) will be doing the cooking for us, the Macular Degenerates will be playing, and we'll have beer tastings and tours, ping pong, football on TV, a silent auction, and lots of fun! So . . . line up a sitter and get your tickets!
